| Jo Ann Chiu Named KSID Volunteer of the Month |
|
Spring, TX. Klein Collins, as the host school for the Klein ISD September volunteer luncheon, named the district’s volunteer of the month, Ms. Joanne Chiu.
|
Ms. Chiu has served as a volunteer at Haude Elementary School, Strack Intermediate School, Klein Oak High School, and Klein Collins High School. At Haude, in addition to serving as a class reader, and workroom helper, she coordinated parents to serve as tutors during the school day. For Strack she served as a member of the District Instructional Development Council (DIDC). At Klein Oak, she served in a variety or roles. And at Klein Collins, she has been volunteer co-coordinator, and participant in the district’s mentoring program. Ms. Chiu has also served on the Campus Instructional Development Council (CIDC) at Klein Collins.
Ms. Chiu and her husband Donald are the parents of Kristen who is a music ministry major at Dallas Christian College, Tiffany who is an elementary education major at the University of Oklahoma, and Michael who is a member of the Air Force JROTC at Klein Collins.
In analyzing her role as a volunteer, Ms. Chiu stated, “I am grateful for the blessing when volunteering in Klein ISD. Best is when students greet me and when I recall with other volunteers how our paths have crossed. Another good part of volunteering is being a part of a great team of parent volunteers who are so involved and dedicated to their children. We have so many volunteers at Klein Collins that we already have parents lined up to serve as volunteer coordinators at Klein Collins. Of course, all volunteers like the way that the Klein ISD staff members welcome us when we come to serve.”
In the community, Ms. Chiu participates in the Klein ISD Unite for Understanding Council, Mission Greenspoint, and the children’s ministry of her church.
